Today, we interviewed Ola Agboola, Senior Director for Customer Renewal Services.

What do you do at ProQuest?
I am the Senior Director for Customer Renewal Services responsible for managing our renewals program for customers in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

Why is the work you do so important to our customers?
It is important that the customers get continued and timely access to products and services to support the research process.

What’s your professional background – anything interesting or unique to share?
I have worked in the information industry for over 25 years in a variety of roles and over those years it has been exciting to see innovation and change in the industry, which has had a positive impact on libraries and researchers.

What motivated you to get into your current field?
Customer success is a key motivation for me. It is always good to receive feedback from customers about the impact the use of our products and services has had on their user communities.

What brought you to ProQuest? What’s one thing that surprised you about working here?
Joining ProQuest was a natural progression from my role as the Head of Customer Service and Support at BMJ Group. The establishment of a new customer experience team at ProQuest was a major factor in joining ProQuest.

The one pleasant surprise at ProQuest is the way teams collaborate effectively even when dispersed across geographies.

What do you like about working here – both the job itself and the rewards/benefits?
The staff and customers. Being able to work with a group of talented and very welcoming people, as well as, diverse customers is what I really enjoy about the company and my role.

What other fun and interesting things do you enjoy doing? Have you found anyone at ProQuest that shares your interest?
Working out of the Cambridge office in the UK has been rewarding and has brought me into contact with many like-minded people. With a good work-life balance and numerous social events (punting, museum visits, barbeques), I now have a network of great people. Outside work, I am learning to play the piano (again!), and enjoy attending jazz festivals.
