Pivot Editorial Team has implemented a new quarterly review process to add new terms to the vocabulary to fit emerging fields of interest to our customers. While keywording has always been a priority for funding opportunities, ProQuest hope researchers using Pivot will be delighted with the increase in new terms generated through this new more rigorous quarterly review process.

The most recent additions cover disciplines within the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts, and include keywords such as Nosocomial Infections, STEM Education, Clean Technology, Carbon Sequestration, Organized Crime, Energy Industry, Synthetic Biology, Sustainable Design, Human Trafficking, Electronic Health Records, Green Buildings, Cloud Computing, and Urban Farming.

We are excited to inform you that Pivot now has citation ingests from ORCID. This is a big step in further enhancing the accuracy of profiles and ultimately improving funding recommendations for Pivot users. ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier (ORCID iDs) for researchers, which they can connect to their contributions and affiliations during their regular activities, including submission of manuscripts, dissertations, or datasets; grant application; and in student or employee directory and profile systems.

ProQuest has completed its acquisition of Ex Libris Group and formed a new business unit: Ex Libris, a ProQuest company. This new business unit will manage existing discovery, knowledgebase, and management solutions including: Alma, Aleph, bX, Intota, Primo, Rosetta, SFX, SIPX, Summon, 360 Link, Voyager, and the newly launched Leganto reading-list solution and campusM mobile campus solution. Although two organizations and customer communities are being integrated, we want to assure you that you will continue working with the same Support teams as before.

With diminishing resources allocated to competitive funding from federal/national levels, researchers need to find alternative avenues to get the grant money they need and RDPs need to become savvier searchers.

On September 22, ProQuest held a Pivot Workshop in the beautiful Governing Council Chambers, Simcoe Hall at the University of Toronto. This was the first focused product day for Pivot in Canada and was designed to support subscribing members of the Ontario Council on University Research (OCUR). Hosted by the Office of the Vice President, Research and Innovation, several research administrators from departments around the University were there, as well as virtual attendees from campuses across Ontario.The theme of the Workshop was Pivot engagement and best practices for putting the right funding opportunities in front of the right researchers at the right time.
